Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 1 May 2025

Our Commitment

Code Nation is committed to making the Code Nation website and LMS platform accessible to as many people as possible, including those with disabilities. We work to ensure that our Platform meets contemporary accessibility standards and that no user is excluded from accessing our services because of a disability or impairment.

We are working towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Supported Features

The following accessibility features are currently implemented across the Platform:

  • Keyboard navigation: Core navigation and interactive elements can be accessed using a keyboard without requiring a mouse.
  • Semantic HTML: Pages are built using semantic HTML elements that convey structure to assistive technologies.
  • Colour contrast: Text and interactive element colours are chosen to meet minimum contrast ratios. Primary green (#1d7a3e on white) meets WCAG AA requirements.
  • Responsive layout: The Platform is designed to function correctly at all viewport sizes, including mobile and tablet.
  • Reduced motion support: Interface animations are disabled for users who have enabled the \"reduce motion\" system preference.
  • Alt text: All meaningful images include descriptive alt text attributes.
  • Focus indicators: Focusable elements display visible focus outlines for keyboard and switch access users.
  • Form labels: All form inputs are associated with descriptive labels visible to screen readers.
  • Error identification: Form validation errors are communicated in text, not colour alone.

Known Limitations

We are aware of the following areas that may not yet fully meet accessibility requirements:

  • Some complex data tables in the admin dashboard may not be fully navigable by screen readers.
  • Video content embedded from external providers may not always include captions. We are working to ensure captioned versions are available.
  • PDF documents available for download may not be fully accessible. Contact us for an accessible alternative.

Assistive Technology Compatibility

The Platform is tested for compatibility with the following assistive technologies:

  • NVDA screen reader with Chrome on Windows
  • VoiceOver with Safari on macOS and iOS
  • TalkBack on Android with Chrome

Reporting Accessibility Issues

If you encounter any accessibility barriers on the Platform that are not described above, or if you need content in an accessible format, please contact us:

Feedback and Continuous Improvement

We actively seek feedback on the accessibility of our Platform. Your reports help us identify issues and prioritise improvements. If you have used an assistive technology to access our Platform and encountered a barrier, please tell us about it — this information is invaluable to our ongoing improvement work.

Enforcement Procedure

If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility complaint, you may contact the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) in Nigeria, or the relevant authority in your jurisdiction.
